Security & Wallets FAQ
A seed phrase (recovery phrase) is a 12-24 word sequence that can restore your entire wallet. It's the master key to your crypto. Never share it, store it offline in multiple secure locations, and never enter it on any website. Anyone with your seed phrase controls your funds.
Hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor) store keys offline and are best for large holdings and long-term storage. Software wallets are more convenient for frequent transactions but are vulnerable to malware. Many users combine both: hardware for savings, software for spending.
Write your seed phrase on paper or metal (fire/water resistant). Store copies in multiple secure locations (safe deposit box, home safe). Never store digitally or take photos. Test your backup by restoring to a new device before storing significant funds.
If you have your seed phrase, you can recover your wallet on any compatible device. Without it, recovery is essentially impossible—crypto lost to forgotten passwords or lost keys is gone forever. This is why secure backup is critical.
